"Always a great experience at Downtown Dental. Professional, courteous & responsive to your needs."- T.D. / Google / Oct 22, 2021
"I was in an emergency situation and needed immediate care. Had a painful infection in an important tooth holding my bridge in place. I have rheumatoid arthritis and was facing an infusion of a powerful biological medication the next day which lowers the immune system. I had never seen Dr Canesi before though my husband happily had been his patient for years. The doctor took me in, eased the pain and gave me a referral for needed Endodontist to complete the job and hopefully save my tooth. I love this dental practice and the compassion and professionalism of Dr Canesi and his entire staff. Thank you for calming my fears and taking such good care of of me. Who Can Benefit from 3D Oral Imaging?
3D oral imaging can be used to identify a variety of dental problems for patients of any age. For children, we use oral imaging to monitor developments and changes in their oral and facial structures. It can also be utilized in orthodontics to determine if teeth are shifting and aligning as we want them to. Additionally, it enhances our ability to plan treatments by allowing our patients the very best possible alternatives for tracking and fixing problems.
What to Expect from 3D Oral Imaging
Like x-rays, 3D oral imaging is generally part of your traditional yearly dental exam. The actual procedure is very similar to having x-rays taken, but when using 3D imaging, our imaging machine will automatically move 360-degrees around your head. The whole process only takes about 20 – 40 seconds for a complete mouth view. The pictures are then uploaded to our computer system so our team can examine and determine whether you're dealing with any dental conditions that may need treatment. As the imaging process can expose individuals to radiation, women that are pregnant or breastfeeding should let us know beforehand. Additionally, kids need to reduce their exposure to radiation and only undergo 3D imaging when needed and approved by a specialist.
After 3D Oral Imaging
There's no need for a formal follow-up after receiving oral imaging, but it is strongly suggested and highly recommended that you keep biannual teeth cleanings and annual dental checkups as a part of your regular routine to keep optimal oral health. An attentive dental health regimen is also just as important, including brushing twice a day and flossing every day to help keep your teeth healthy and strong. If you would like tips and tricks on how to achieve optimal oral health at home, one of our Downtown Dental Partners – Boston, MA team members would be happy to discuss that with you!
